This came in from "Justice-for Trayvon."
This ride is out of control. Six white women, at least one of them having a permit to carry a concealed weapon like Zimmerman, made it legal to stalk and kill young black men if they think - just if they think - they are dangerous and threatening, and what white person with a gun doesn't think a young black man is threatening and dangerous?
If you are white and you shoot a black person n Florida it is 500 times more likely you will either found not guilty or not even be charged than if you are a black person who fires a gun for any reason.
The only reason why we even know about what happened that night is because the police didn't even arrest and question Zimmerman. They just looked at Trayvon, heard Zimmerman say "he attacked me" and the police said "you are free to go." No one knows how many black boys are stalked, chased and then shot with no one to say what happened except the person who kills them. No one knows how many black boys and men have been murdered the way Trayvon was murdered.
But we are going to find out. With God as my witness, we are going to find out.
White people are yelling that Zimmerman's acquittal had nothing to do with race. They are out of their fucking racist minds. The fact that big, stupid, wanna be cop was found not guilty had everything to do with race. If Trayvon had been white, Zimmerman would have been found guilty of a crime. If Trayvon felt his life was in danger and killed Zimmerman, Trayvon would have been found guilty of murder.
Trayvon was profiled by an idiot with a gun as a criminal because he was walking slow -Zimmerman said that Trayvon walking slow proved Trayvon "was up to something" - and wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap.
I look like that. Do I have to live my life afraid to walk alone, especially at night? Do I have to worry that I am walking too slow or too fast? Do I have to be afraid for the rest of my life for reasons that someone just like me in every single way possible except that they are white will never have to face?
You may like this fine. You may like it that people like me have to be afraid every time they see a police man and every time they are alone on the street. This may be the America you want.
But it isn't the America my generation - my people - will accept anymore. Our parents accepted it. We won't. We can't. We are going to have kids too, and we want to live in a country where we don't have to teach them that, if they are boys, they are adorable until they get big enough, and then they automatically become menacing. I don't want to have to tell them that they can never feel safe again, and never were safe in the first place.
It is time for this shit to stop. But, racist white people, don't worry: we aren't going to do anything that could get us shot or arrested. Hell no.
The only way to make a difference is through the good, old fashioned method of economic boycott. Let's do to Florida what our fathers and mothers did to South Africa. Economic boycott. Corporate divestment. No trips to Disney World. No Florida oranges. No entertainer should perform in Florida, and if they do, no one should buy their records or see their movies or watch them on TV.
We welcome all people to join us in this noble cause. Everyone. Because, deep down we know that the whole damned rotten system is rotten because of only a few, not the many.
And now the many need to fix this problem. Once and for all.
We need to make an example of Florida. If you live there, do what you can to get the hell out because the state that made it legal to hunt black kids is going down.
Boycott everything made in Florida. Boycott until there is justice for Trayvon.
