Will there be a popular uprising when the Republicans steal the next election through voter suppression?

WILL THERE BE A POPULAR UPRISING WHEN THE REPUBLICANS STEAL THE NEXT ELECTION THROUGH VOTER SUPPRESSION?

On paper it looks like Obama is going to win a second term as president of the United States.  No matter how you crunch the numbers, he is ahead in the electoral vote.

It is important to distinguish the popular vote with the electoral vote.  If you know the difference, then skip ahead. But if not, please read on.  Most Americans don’t understand the difference.

If you poll all American voters as a whole, the race is very close, with Obama only being a hair above Romney.  But presidential elections in the United States are not decided by popular vote. They are decided by the Electoral College, and right now – despite the fact that the popular vote is split, Obama is way ahead in probable electoral votes.

Here is how the Electoral College works:  each state is assigned a number of “electoral votes” depending on the state’s population. The higher the population, the more electoral votes assigned to the state.  California (a blue state) has the highest population in the nation, and so has the highest number of electoral votes – 55.  In sharp contrast, North Dakota (a red state) has 3 electoral votes.  So if Obama wins the popular vote in California – as is expected - he will be assigned 55 votes. If Romney wins the popular vote in North Dakota – as is expected – he gets 3 electoral votes.

The candidate that gets 270 electoral votes wins the election.

Public opinion polls show Obama winning the next election by a wide range of electoral votes.  Take a look at two of the most prominent websites that track electoral votes.  The first is found at http://electoral-vote.com.  

Averaging many opinion polls, this website shows Obama with a commanding lead with 332 electoral votes over Romney’s 206 – far short of the 2070 Romney needs to win.

Another website - http://electoralmap.net/2012/intrade.php - uses a different approach to predicting the winner of the next election.  Instead of averaging multiple opinion polls, Intrade looks at how Americans are betting on the outcome of the election.  The theory is that people betting with their own money can more accurately analyze the odds of which candidate is most likely to win.  Intrade looks at the betting records for each state and also concludes that Obama has a commanding lead in electoral votes – 303 to Romney’s 235.

Intrade and Electoral-Vote are only two organizations crunching the numbers and predicting that Obama will win the November elections by a wide margin of votes in the Electoral College.  But they do this primarily by crunching poll numbers that are derived from asking likely voters how they will vote in November.

They do not take Republican voter suppression efforts into consideration.  In every state where Obama is ahead, but only by a smaller margin, the Republican controlled legislatures in those states have conducted a campaign of suppressing likely votes for Obama by making it more difficult for pro-Obama voters to actually go out and vote. 

The most famous example of voter suppression is the effort by Republican controlled state legislatures to pass laws requiring voters to show identification prior to being allowed to vote.  It is well- established that these kinds of laws prevent minority and less affluent people from voting because these people don’t have a drivers license for any number of reasons including not being able to afford to pay the fee to get one or not owning a car.

So it is very clear that, if Romney beats Obama in November, it will happen because he relied on voter suppression tactics to steal prevent people from voting who would have voted for Obama.

In other words, if Romney wins in November, it will be because he stole the election by cheating people of their votes.

This is likely to happen.  The next president will be chosen, not by the people, but by Republican tactics to prevent Democrats from voting.

The only real question is how the American people will respond.  What will they do when the next president is chosen via trickery, when the election is stolen?  Will they sit back and do nothing or will they rise up in protest and possible civil unrest that includes violence?

This is what happens in other countries around the world: revolutions are born when a corrupt political system prevents the will of the people from being expressed.

How will we respond when the wealthiest Americans game the system to get one of their own in the White House, who has promised to implement policies that will make the richest Americans even richer at the expense of everyone else?  How will the People react?

Between the Lines - News - Ryan Won't Correct False Statements

The following news parody/satire is submitted by an individual using the pseudonym "Between the Lines."

CLEVELAND — Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan declined on Tuesday to back away from statements in his party convention speech that nonpartisan fact checkers have branded as false or misleading.

"Why should I admit that I am lying about Obama's record?"  Ryan asked.  "There are likely voters in swing states that believe my lies.  Telling them I have been deceiving them would defeat the purpose of lying in the first place," Ryan concluded.

"Eventually people will realize Romney and Ryan were lying to them. But by the time they make that realization it will be too late - just like when the American people found out that Bush and Cheney lied to them about the reasons to invade Iraq," said Fred Fredrickson, GOP strategist.  

"By the time we found out the truth, the war in Iraq was in full swing and it was too late to do anything about it.  The same thing is going to happen here. By the time the electorate realizes Romney and Ryan lied, they will be president and vice president and, with a Republican majority in both houses of congress, it will be impossible to get them out of office,"  Fredrickson concluded, rubbing his hands together, grinning and laughing maniacally.

"Obama is a socialist and he was born in Kenya and he hates white people and he is going to give free stuff to lazy poor people and make you pay for it,"  Fredirckson added.

"And he is a secret muslim and has friends who are terrorists," Fredrickson concluded.

"And our bad economy is Obama's fault, and not George Bush's fault. Obama didn't fix what George Bush broke, so it is fair to blame it all on the black guy," Fredrickson said.

GUN CONTROL THE NRA WILL ALLOW

In the United States, the question of gun control is a difficult one to answer.  The 2nd amendment of the United States Constitution recognizes  the right of every citizen to bear arms. 2nd amendment advocates believe that this constitutional right is more or less absolute. These advocates are concerned that any limit on the right to bear arms -  virtually any arms  -  would lead to a “slippery slope” that would ultimately result in the erosion of the rights that the Second Amendment makes so clear.

So many Americans believe this that it is politically difficult if not impossible to impose limits on the ability to access weapons that would help prevent massacres like the one that happened in Aurora Colorado, where a deranged man entered a movie theater and  a shot at the audience with a semi automatic weapon.

2nd amendment advocates believe that this sort of thing is just the price we have to be willing to pay to live in a free society – with  “freedom” being defined as the ability to freely access, own, and use firearms of any kind.

There is a simple solution that will help to keep firearms away from crazy people while allowing sane people to access and own all of the firearms they wish. It is called The Minnesota multiphasic personality inventory (MMPI).  

The MMPI that can be given to anyone to determine if that person or a psychopathology that makes them dangerous.  The MMPI is already being used to evaluate candidates for secret and top-secret security clearance and the test is already required for many positions with in federal agencies that involve extensive responsibility for life and property, including the Department of Defense, CIA, and federal aviation administration -  And it it has worked out fairly well in those circumstances to screen out for example potential air traffic controllers who might be tempted to cause it airplanes to collide from those who would not do so.  

The solution to the American problem of gun control is to screen likely dangerous candidates from those who pose no danger to society. The MMPI can be used to separate out the dangerous from the non dangerous.

Recently an employee in New York City who had been fired took the gun and shot some coworkers near the Empire State building. This man wasn't crazy. He was just very angry. There is nothing that we can do to stop this sort of thing from happening. However, we can prevent and should prevent James Eagan Holmes – The man who killed all those people in Aurora, Colorado, from obtaining the weapons he used to commit mass murder.

These tests will need to be evaluated by trained professionals.  but the costs associated with administering the MMPI to anyone seeking to purchase a  firearm is well worth the benefit of preventing mass killings perpetrated by sociopaths.

I Hate Obama More Than I Love Jesus

The following essay is submitted by an individual using the pseudonym "A Proud Christian American Voter."


I hate to admit it, but the recent Republican national convention, and the nomination of Mitt Romney as the GOP candidate for president of the United States forces me to face an inconvenient truth: I hate Barack Obama more than I love Jesus.

I am your average American voter. I am primarily concerned with imposing my Christian values on everyone.    And that means I want a Christian, anti abortion president of these United States. And when I say Christian I mean a Christian like me. And when I say ant iabortion I mean I want abortion outlawed no matter how the woman got pregnant.

Mitt Romney is not a Christian. He's a Mormon. In my heart I know that Mormonism is some kind of weird cult. I mean my God, they wear magic underwear.  They think God lives on some planet. They're weird and they're a bit creepy.

And Mitt Romney has said very clearly that he supports abortion in the case of rape or incest.

I'm supporting Romney for Pres. of these United States, even though he is not a Christian and even though he has made it very clear. That he's not going to promote Christian values.

So I guess I hate Barack Obama more than I love Jesus because I would rather that a non-Christian cult member who likes abortion be our president than a black guy. I mean come on, that's what this all about. Obama is black. Americans don't like that. They downright hate it. The thought of it makes them crazy. Good Christian people are willing to lie, cheat and steal.  We say Obama is a secret Muslim.  We know that isn't true.  We say he is a socialist.  We know that isn't true. We say he wasn't born in the United States. We know that isn't true.  When Paul Ryan said in his acceptance speech that Obama promised to keep a factory open but a year later it closed, we knew he was lying, we knew that factory closed before Obama came into office.  So what?  We are willing to lie, to break one of God's Commandments, if it helps to kick Obama out of the White House.  We not only want to get him out of office, we want to make sure that a black man is never elected to the highest office in our land again.

It is racial hatred that unites so many Americans behind that Mormon, immoral, flip-flopping, rich idiot Mitt Romney.  We know that when Romney gets into office he is going to put laws into place that will allow the richest people to take what George Bush left behind.  You have money in a retirement account?  Kiss it goodbye.  Right before the big stock market crash that is coming all the really rich people will know about it in advance, cash in their chips, leaving the rest of us holding the empty bag.   Romney supporters like me know that electing Romney will cause our standard of living to continue to decline. We know Romney will probably start another war, probably with Iran, that we can't afford.

But none of that matters. We are willing to compromise all that we believe in to put that nigger back in his place, and all women, homosexuals, and minorities back in their place, too.  Jesus says to love these people, to forgive them their trespasses and not to judge them.  I can't do that. I hate them and know they are all going to hell because they are liberal socialists.  In my heart I know Jesus hates these people too and will forgive me for hating them more than I love him.
